How to erase or reduce scars, stretchmarks, or keloids with essential oils

The development of scar tissue is our skin’s natural response to an injury, burn, cut, scratch, bite or even acne. Our skin has an amazing ability to rejuvenate, revitalize and restore the skin to its original state by first forming a scab, which usually shrinks and falls off as collagen is forming to strengthen the skin normally within 10 days, but can take up to three months or even a year before it returns to its full strength.

Massage treatments help erase scar tissue too, so by laying a dampened warm towel over the area for a few minutes and then rubbing a few drops of lavender essential oil mixed with about 1/2 oz rosehip seed oil into the scar two or three times a day. Massage also  increases lymph drainage and get things moving to give the essential oils deeper penetration into the skin. Use the warm to hot dampened towel each time.

Vitamin E cream will begin to soften the scar tissue if you apply it twice a day. Mederma gel works best on developing keloids to help the texture, color, tenderness and overall appearance of the scar. It is made from the botanical extracts of onions and allantoin and should be used several times a day. When keloids are in their early development stage, calendula can be used to increase the speed of the healing process and reduce inflammation. Calendula should be used directly on the scar twice a day and it comes in a gel or cream form. Lavender oil applied to the scar a few times per day may stop the keloids’ growth. This oil contains skin-cell-rejuvenating properties.

Any treatments, oils or remedies that contains at least 10 percent mustard-seed oil may help improve keloids’ overall appearance. Improvement is seen after a few weeks of applying such treatments two to three times a day.

Also effective is a mixture of 1 oz. rose hip seed oil, 1 oz. of essential oils of rose and 1 oz. of everlasting, stored in a dark glass bottle. Rub the treatment on keloid scars every day after bathing.
